Eric Clapton Signiture Guitar Question?

I just bought the eric clapton midnight blue signature strat and i realized after taking off the backplate there is a 9 volt in there for the mid boost and I also noticed the guitar doesn't work without it. Does anybody know how long they last in the guitar or if you can re-route it so you don't need to use it? The last thing I need on stage is my guitar going out cuz of a 9 volt. The guitar was $3000 so its not a cheap guitar. It sounds amazing. Any input would be great thnx.

I don't understand why you purchased this model if you don't care about the mid-range boost. If you want a plain old Strat, get a plain old Strat. If you want a "Strat on steroids" you just purchased it.

Can' tell you how long a battery will last because you gave no indication of how much you will play it with the mids enabled. Keep in mind that the battery can only be drained when there is a cable in the output jack, so remove it when you're not playing.

There is no no need to reroute it either because it would be smarter to just take it back and get a plain old Strat.

Your biggest problem I see is that you claim the guitar doesn't work without the battery. This should not be the case. You may have to leave a battery in even if it's dead. Try it again, both with and without a battery, making sure the mid-range selector is turned all the way down, and that the neck and bridge pups are up. If you still get no sound, take it back. You might want to call a guitar shop first and talk with a tech. Might save you a trip to the shop if they can figure out what the problem is over the phone.

Since you already have the guitar though, I'd make the m-r boost work for you! It just may be worth the bother of having to "lug" an extra 9v battery around.
