Split ends question. Can anyone answer?

So, I read almost everything I could on them, and I still am not sure If what I want to know is truly answered. Once a split end reaches the hair shaft and the hair falls out, will the hair never grow back? I read somewhere that it will not, but I really am not sure.

Can someone please give me the proof that it is true or false?

Also, if anyone knows anything about ends that look thinned, and what you should do about those. Thank you.

It will much likely break off completely before it ever reaches that point. I have never heard of this. It won't damage the follicle, the only things that can do that are rupture to the pore around the hair so that it can't hold a hair any longer, or chemical damage.

Your ends may look thin because of breakage, or layering cuts off the hair that would otherwise be contributing to the fullness of the hair at the ends. Get a blunt cut and keep your hair healthy to prevent breakage.
