What kind of medium can I use in a Rapidograph Pen?

Besides India ink. Can I use a water-based paint? I want to work with a lot of colors and India ink is a pain in the neck. Plus I can't find it in all the colors I need. Thanks!

mainly inks.. and inks that fit your type of pen. If you are seeking transparent lines... i would go this route.. and choose your ink carefully [they can rot in time]. another route is to invest in some nice markers. I find brush markers to be very useful for drawing and give me much of what i want. there are archival and nonarchival.. so choose wisely. I use tombo markers a lot: [mainly blacks and greys.. and they are a little water soluable]

You can place other media in rapidograph pens... but if not thoroughly cleaned you could destroy your pen set. [and they are quite costly] There are a lot of archival pen sets out there.. and i would explore them first... before taking a risk.

just for a weird suggestion... but there are whiteout pens too. if you are looking for white or some colored lines [vs. transparent media like inks].. you can draw with these..and then do a slight acrylic wash over them [being very careful].. this can give you some of the opaque lines you might crave.
