Guitar Pickup Wiring Harness

EMG guitar pickups wiring problem?

I have a guitar with emg pickups 81/85 that i wired in myself, they worked fine last friday and today is now wednesday and my guitar doesnt work. the cord was not plugged in so i know the batteries are not dead ( i had my friend put them on his tounge) and i even tried putting new ones in it and nothing, its just the faint shitty tone of emgs with no batteries in them, i check all the wiring over and over and there is nothing wrong at all, i even checked the connections on the harness for the 9vs(i use the 18v mod) and their fine, i cant figure it out. any help?

maybe you have a bad solder joint. Just because the wires are going to the right place and there are little beads of metal, with wires attached to them, that doesn't mean the solder connections are good. You may have what is called a cold solder connection that looks semi ok, but is a crappy joint. It should not look dull and porous with long ti*ts coming off. It should look shiny, no pores or little holes and no long ti*ts sticking out from where you pulled the soldering iron away from the part. If the solder pulls away with the iron, you could have a cold connection.

This video talks about people bringing in guitars they tried to work on but failed to solder it correctly. Hopefully you didn't cook your electronics by holding low heat for a long time or something like that, rather than hot and quick soldering. Maybe this will video will help you do a better solder job. You may have to unsolder your work and re solder it.
