Guitars, Bridges and the Whammy Bar

The bridge is a part found on an acoustic guitar, whose purpose is to act as a way of transferring the vibrations the strings as they are pulled or touched, the soundboard itself. The soundboard then vibrate the air inside the hollow body acoustic guitar air and this vibration causes a natural amplification of sound caused by plucking the strings. Like singing in the bathroom leads to a stronger and more resonant sound when you sing in your garden with this small, natural air pocket behind the sound box causes the increase in volume and pitch of sounds and notes played.

Of course, the bridge is on electric guitars, as well as acoustic and classical, electric guitars for amplification not achieved through the use of the airbag, as the body of an electric guitar is solid, no echo chamber. But the bridge is still used to preserve strings in place in the body of the guitar. The bridge of a guitar is an essential component, and as with all components of a guitar, has not only undergone many changes design in the long history of the instrument, but it remains a component in many variations today. For example, in some guitars there is a mechanism that includes allowing lifting or physical decline of the entire bridge.

This rise and fall of the bridge results in an increased distance between the strings of the guitar and the fret table below. The growing gap means that different playing styles can be adopted, with the ability to strike the strings supplied by a greater distance between the strings and food while a greater distance means that the strings are closer to the sound box and a heavier sound and amplifies it produces. The rise and fall of the bridge also can be used as a way of tuning the sound or intonation of the instrument as well. There are some bridges that are produced by spring, and include a device known as a whammy bar. This lever is an arm vibrato, usually removable, which allows the player to alter the tone, or modular, moving the entire bridge up and down during playback of a note of the chord.

The whammy bar is also sometimes known as a tremolo bar and a very rapid change in the pitch of the notes or chords normally known as the method of vibrato in terms of music. Today, most electric guitars come with a bridge that can be fine tuned for each individual string in order to ensure that each string is kept in tune up and down the neck of the guitar. If a single string or acute plays well when struck, then, in some cases with a screwdriver, the bridge can be adjusted for a single string, to return to correct pitch.

Because each individual string on a guitar stretches a lot, and is constantly under pressure, and therefore a bit stretched or distorted during playback time on the strings can be a little longer. Although not clearly visible, this can result in a string that sounds a bit strong, so that by adjusting the bridge in the chain, can be flattened enough to tune. It is for this reason that the length of the strings of a guitar are clearly longer than the length of the guitar, to allow adjustment of each string, both individually and in relation to each other.
