How To Get Good Sounding Breakdowns On Guitar?

I am using an Ibanez RG2EX1, and a Peavey Transtube 112 EFX with an Electro Harmonix Metal Muff distortion pedal and I was wondering how to set it to get really heavy low sounding breakdowns like Parkway Drive or All That Remains. My guitar is usually tuned in Drop C, but occasionally Drop B, and rarely drop D. I've been playing for almost 2 years now and I've recently decided I want a much lower heavier sound so that is why I'm looking to make my breakdowns so heavy sounding. Please help!

dude, here's my advice.
first, in terms of guitar, if you really wana get a low tone, then i suggest you,
(a) turn on the bridge pickup
(b) turn your low up to about 6-7, mid to 4-5, and high to about 6-8 on your amp
(c) gain can kill the tone if u dont have enough, but not enough will make it weak and lifeless
(d) metal muff? um... no. try maybe a boss metal core but thats for me
(e) in the end, tone matters on how u play the guitar, and how u hit the strings, and everything else.
but honestly, breakdowns heavieness rely more on the bass guitar, and the kickdrums. so if you feel like your not getting heavy enough sounds, its probably the kick drums tone or the bassist.
