how too make my effects pedal work?

hey people. I have a zoom g1 guitar effects box and I am borrowing an expression pedal from a friend (not zoom but the store people told me it'd work) I plugged it in and read the directions and set up the wah too try it out and all it does it move the banks up. how do I fix this?

You sure you got it in the "expression" input and not the "foot switch" input? Sounds to me like the culprit.Double check it ... I know you read the directions...but a simple mistake of hooking it into the wrong input will do exactly what you are describing.
On the other hand not everyones expression pedal is gonna work with other companies products. (example:BOSS will only work with BOSS or Roland expression pedals).
After double checking the input you still have problems..maybe a trip to pick up the actual Zoom pedal is in order. The model #'s are as follows
Zoom Expression :FP02
Zoom Channel Switcher :FS01
Double check the correct input for "Exp".....Hope this helped ya in some way...
