Alter Bridge is an American rock band based in Orlando, Florida. The band was formed in 2004 by then former members of Creed, Mark Tremonti (lead guitar, vocals), Brian Marshall (bass) and Scott Phillips (drums), with Myles Kennedy (lead vocals, lead and rhythm guitar), former member The Mayfield Four.
Kennedy, Tremonti, Phillips and Marshall started a new band and soon after juggling some names, they settled on the nickname Alter Bridge, which was named after a bridge near his home in Detroit Tremonti Alter road. The bridge was a bad side of town and the neighborhood children were not allowed crossing for this reason. Thus, according to Tremonti, the name symbolizes the band goes into the unknown and start something new.
Alter Bridge released their debut album debut, One Day Remains, in August 2004, followed by their second album, Blackbird, in October 2007. Both were highly successful. In January 2010, the band announced that 17 songs for a third album have been completed and that the band is writing more material. [3] The album recording process, accompanied by producer Michael "Elvis" began Baskette (Ratt, Limp Bizkit), 15 February 2010.
The band was formed in 2004 by Mark Tremonti and Scott Phillips, both members of Creed, who had been through a separation due to problems with singer Scott Stapp. They met with former bassist Brian Marshall, Creed had left much earlier, and called a guitarist / vocalist Myles Kennedy, formerly of The Mayfield Four, a rock band Creed had been touring with earlier in the career of the band before they made it big.
Alter Bridge released their debut album, One Day Remains, August 10, 2004 along with their first single "Open Your Eyes", which was followed by "Find The Real" and "Broken Wings". "Find The Real" was used as theme song for the WWE 2005 Royal Rumble. The song "Metalingus" has been used since late 2004 as the central theme of WWE Superstar Edge.
The album, which was certified gold by the RIAA, was released by Wind-Up Records. After the release the band soon split from the label, and after discussions numurous with different labels, who was installed with Universal Republic for the second launch. It is said that wind-up, which was also Creed Scott Stapp and record labels, was pressing for a meeting of Creed, which was the main reason for Alter Bridge decided to buy his contract with the label.
The band also performed Live at the 2005 MLB Home Run Derby. They also recorded an instrumental song Total Guitar magazine called "Ahava Rabo Taco Salad." The song would be a song from Mark Tremonti principle, but the rest of Alter Bridge soon became involved.
