AC ADAPTER HELP WITH DIGITECH TOnE DRIVER!!!?

I do not wanna drop 20-30 bucks on the recommened AC adapter. I have a bunch laying around the house. The manual says my Tone Driver needs a PS200R ac adapter. Output 9vdc, 300mA...with negative polarity

I plugged in the only negative polarity ac adapter i could find. Nintendo NES's. The light on the pedal turned on, indicating it was recieving power, but when i turned on my amp, i got this loud horrible buzzing/feedback noise. What's going on?

I don't want to keep using batteries. I've gone through 2 batteries in 2 days. The pedal sucks the life out of batteries.

If you are not sure, and to the extent that you will be experimenting on power supplies, better spend a few bucks and follow the recommendations because you mignt dammage your equipment. It requires an output of 9 volts Direct Current (meaning with positive and negative terminals) atleast a current rating of 300 mA (500mA or 700mA would be OK) and most importantly "negative polarity" If you see those specs in one of your adapter but does not specify the polarity, well cut the cable/wire and connect in reverse, and that is negative polarity. You mentioned that you'ved connected it to nintendo negative polarity AC adapter. The output of that adapter maybe AC or alternating current. Its alternating because it can go negative and positive in a wavelength such that it can't be filtered, can pass and go directly to tone driver output that's why you can hear the buzzing noise and hum. So be very strict on the specs, AC is the opposite of DC,.. plugging it to over 12V DC might fry it instantly, Using over 300mA of current is ok and lastly negative polarity is just like reversing the wires in the adapter - but there are negative polarity adapters for sale.
